Why PTE
A modern test that fits an immigration timeline
Accepted by IRCC
PTE Core is an approved English test for economic immigration programs including Express Entry and most Provincial Nominee streams.
Fully computer-based
Speaking, writing, reading and listening are completed in a single two-hour sitting with AI-assisted, unbiased scoring.
Fast results
Most results are released within two business days, which matters when a draw or a permit deadline is close.
Counts toward CRS
Higher CLB levels can add significant Comprehensive Ranking System points, and first official language scores unlock the Canadian Experience Class.
Score guide
What PTE Core score do you need?
IRCC converts test scores to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels. Express Entry programs set minimums by CLB, and higher levels earn more CRS points. Use this table to set a target before you book a test date.
| CLB level | Listening | Reading | Speaking | Writing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CLB 10+ | 89+ | 88+ | 89+ | 90+ |
| CLB 9 | 82–88 | 78–87 | 84–88 | 88–89 |
| CLB 8 | 71–81 | 69–77 | 76–83 | 79–87 |
